Broadcom Code4z is a complete developer experience based in VS Code. To experience the solution and see the tangible value of our toolset,we offer hands-on workshops. Individuals that come with their laptop to the will connect into an environment from their browser and by using a prepared set of scenarios will use the tools to do various developer type tasks. The participant will use VS Code and Code4z along with a mainframe.
The workshops we will offer include:
1/ Coding/debugging experience
2/ Generative AI
1/ Coding/debugging experience
This workshop allows the participant to change a COBOL application using the smart edit
capabilities provided in Code4z language servers. As the code is changed syntax errors are
highlighted, a simple set of steps allow for a compile, and a debugging session.
The workshops can either be run with the sources being in Endevor or in GIT/Local. Seamless
interaction with these source libraries is also in Code4z
Accessing the mainframe for files, JCL, REXX is provided in Code4z leveraging ZOWE. For
example, you can edit PDS’ or JCL, submit JCL and view the results.
2/ Generative AI
Participant, from VS Code, will be able to interact with a generative AI LLM through an
Endevor MCP. The kind of things that will be experienced include:
learning about what a program does
understanding what an Endevor error means
Impact of a change
etc.

Join us for a practical workshop of the end-to-end developer experience (DevX) with Code4z, a
leading solution for Z in VS Code. Bring your laptop to develop COBOL apps using Code4z
extensions. Analyze and navigate your Git or Endevor code, explore your app with GenAI code
assistance, add new functionality, build remotely on Mainframe with hybrid CLI based tools, use
modern debuggers, create unit tests and check your code coverage. No installation required – all
you need is a browser!
